OUR STORYSam and Howard met at Ground Control Karaoke in the winter of 2011. They hit it off and became friends. Both of them had a mutual love of punk rock and indie/alternative bands and each enjoyed the others sense of humor and intelligence. Neither of them thought of the other romantically until the summer of 2013. It was at the Three Clubs where things changed in the way they felt about each other. Sam was complaining to Howard about how much dating sucked in Los Angeles. Howard was amazed that someone as awesome as Sam would have any trouble in that area and asked her out on the spot. Their first date was seeing the band A Flock of Seagulls at The New Wave Bar in Bellflower. This was followed by Sam's birthday party at The Short Stop in Echo Park. But it wasn't until their third date at The Griffith Park Observatory that things became serious and each of them realized that this might become something very special. As Howard and Sam watched the movie at the Observatory, Sam put her hand on his and that was it... the bond that began as a friendship and started to bloom into something more was solidified in that moment. It quickly became clear that they were soulmates and meant to be together forever. Within a few months they decided to move in together. They moved into a two bedroom apartment in Silverlake, where Howard became the step dad to Sam's orange tabbies ( Nacho and Pele). They helped each other through Sam's dissertation and Howard's difficult work experiences. Good fortune always seemed to smile upon them. Howard proposed on May 31st, 2014 at the Long Beach Aquarium in front of the octopus tank. They moved to Riverside, California in Jaunaury 2015 when Sam got a job out there at the Public Health Lab. They can't wait to begin their married life together. |
